Welcome back, Richest fans! Hidden away off the coast of Portsmouth, England, sits four forts within the Solent strait. Known as the Palmerston Forts, three of them are owned by the same company. And all three are currently on the market and worth millions! Two of those forts have even been converted into luxury hotels. Today, we’re going to look at the history of No Man’s Land Fort, Spitbank Fort, Horse Sand Fort, and St. Helens Fort. We’ll see why they were created, their unusual history, and an appearance in Doctor Who, as well as the features hidden within the thick granite walls.
Now for the spoiler paragraph. If you like surprises, we suggest you stop reading and watch the video multiple times. We kick off by seeing how the British built the first to stave off a possible French invasion. In today’s money, constructing them cost an absolute fortune! Then, the forts were neglected until World War One and World War Two came calling. Next, we’ll see the various owners of the structures and the strange and unfortunate incidents that occurred. We’ll then examine the current owners and the whopping amount they spent to refurbish the forts into unique luxury hotels. We’ll then explore just how much they’re selling for. Afterwards, we’ll examine the numerous features each of the forts holds. Including saunas, snooker rooms, a Lazer Battle room, a room within a lighthouse, and so much more. Plus, the fact that one of the forts has been planned to be a museum. Finally, we’ll briefly look at one of the most expensive houses on the market in England (at the time of writing), Hampton Hall.
