Fed up with the repeated denial of innumerable applications for fishing licenses near the British-controlled Crown Dependency of Jersey, on the grounds that they violated the terms of the UK’s “Brexit” from the European Union, France has said it will block British vessels from some of its ports if an agreement over the row is not resolved by next week’s deadline. France has even threatened to disrupt the delivery of energy supplies to British-controlled Jersey and has detained a British trawler found in its territorial waters. Prof. Pamella Seay of Florida Gulf Coast University, a scholar of International Law, joins RT America’s John Huddy to share her expert insights.
But first, disgraced former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has been charged with misdemeanor forcible touching a former colleague while at the executive mansion. The woman he groped is one of numerous former colleagues who buried him in a deluge of #MeToo accusations and media scrutiny that earned him condemnation from fellow Democrats, including President Biden, and led to his resignation of the governorship. Chris Hedges of “On Contact,” who is closely following the Assange trial, explains why he believes if the appeal is successful and Assange is extradited to the US, where he faces up to 175 years’ imprisonment and conviction is all but assured, it will set a chilling precedent that will terrify journalists into silence in what will amount to “the end of national security reporting” and that its impact on press freedom will exceed that of any other trial in his lifetime.
