‘Traumatized’ Do migrant kids deserve $450k each while US kids remain in poverty? (Full show)

US officials are considering a $450,000 payment to every person removed from his or her family under the the Trump administration and the draconian approach to illegal immigration. The proposal resembles other kinds of payments with which US agencies sometimes compensate victims of misguided policy or abusive practices, but raises the question of the extent to which civil rights conferred by US law are applicable al journalist Mollye Barrows, contributor with America’s Lawyer, shares her expertise.

Steve Malzberg of “Eat the Press” joins to share his expectations of a muted media response to the charges filed against disgraced former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo in the aftermath of the maelstrom of #MeToo fury unleashed upon him by female colleagues he’d wronged and their allies in media. Malzberg points out that Cuomo’s brother Chris Cuomo, star news presenter at CNN, enjoyed considerable advantages from his proximity to his brother’s position in government and provided a degree of cover from media scrutiny when the latter’s reign of sexual abuse was exposed at last. Presidents Joe Biden and Emmanuel Macron reconciled their differences at the French Embassy to the Vatican ahead of Biden’s audience with the Pope, who leads the Catholic Church. President Biden is the second Catholic president in US history. RT’s Peter Oliver reports from Europe.

Plus, a thirty percent rise in homicides last year and simultaneous climb in overall violent climb to its highest rate in four years has taken some of the wind out of the sails of the “Defund the Police” movement that swept the country following the outrageous brutality exhibited by police officers whose violent arrest resulted in the death of George Floyd, seen as a martyr for police reform and the struggle to reckon with America’s past and present racism.
