South Africa’s President Cyril Ramaphosa described Desmond Tutu as the country’s “moral compass and national conscience” at the Archbishop’s funeral in Cape Town.
In his eulogy to the anti-apartheid campaigner, Mr Ramaphosa recalled the Soweto street which was home to two Nobel laureates, who together played complementary roles in forging the modern South Africa.
And he said Archbishop Tutu’s greatest legacy was of hope and forgiveness.
