The former deputy leader of the Labour party, Harriet Harman has called for Met Police Commissioner Dame Cressida Dick to resign.
It follows the sentencing of Wayne Couzens, a former Met Police officer who abducted, raped and killed Sarah Everard in south London earlier this year. Sarah’s death prompted an outcry and protests over the safety of women in the capital.
Ms Harman tweeted that “women need to be able to trust the police, not to fear them”.
