Education Secretary Nadhim Zahawi says the vote to reform the MP disciplinary appeal process at the same time as Owen Paterson’s suspension ‘was a mistake.’
Mr Paterson was facing a 30-day suspension from Parliament over being paid £500,000 by two companies for lobbying.
The government U-turned on the issue and Mr Paterson resigned as an MP.
