Harriet Harman says that there is still a lot of work that needs to be done for women but they are better represented in politics now than when she started her career.

Mrs Harman will not be standing for re-election after representing Camberwell and Peckham, formerly Peckham, since 1982.

The ‘mother of the House of Commons’ acted as Equality Minister and Justice Minister under Tony Blair and Gordon Brown.

In Adam Boulton’s final interview for Sky News, she tells him that early in her career she felt she had to ‘stand out’ in a time when ‘professional women’ didn’t exist.
