Human rights lawyer Mohammed Patel says he is ‘not at all surprised’ by allegations of racism at Yorkshire County Cricket Club (CCC), which emerged after star Azeem Rafi spoke out.
‘Racism and institutional racism has been rife at Headingley for quite a long time now,’ said Patel.
Mr Patel regularly speaks to Mr Rafiq and says the cricketer will be remembered for being a “hero”.
His actions have helped ‘reset the button’ and now in “one clean swoop, the whole culture of Yorkshire has changed’.
